WHAT WOULD APRIL WEAR BEST OF 2017
This year was a fun year in fashion for me. I wanted to push myself style wise and give my readers more better quality. Instead of posting 3-4 times a week and giving mediocre advice; I went to posting every Monday and adding the products to my boutique. My goal is to give you great content that you can actually shop! Even if the items I share are not actually in my boutique, I am always looking for similar styled products in various sizes for you! Here are my top 10 looks and why I liked them so much! Click the picture to read the blog of each look and look below to see a few of my 2017 highlights in business!
This look was my first post in January. I themed the month Jeanious January, where I shared tips on how to style your denim. This layering technique with the faux fur vest is my favorite thing to do!
Here is another post from Jeanious January, I gave tips on styling denim with fancier pieces for a “fashion girl” look.
Another layering technique, two jackets with different prints! Mixing my camouflage jacket and patch jacket (that is sold out but it’s my favorite) gives me edge I like!
This was my Valentine’s Day look and it was smoking hot! I got a lot of DMs from this look lol
I partnered with a vintage boutique and they sent me this robe to style. It was right on time because the robe trend seen on people like Beyonce and Marjorie Harvey , both in Gucci, was a major fashion moment! I just loved this robe!
I loved this look because it does what I love doing– mixing prints. It was inspired by one of my favorite designers, Stella Jean. Read the post.
This was a look I wore while at NYFW. I love it because it is a creatives’ take on a power suit. I love how I styled the brooches on the lapel (another thing I love to do) READ this post it was not just about fashion. As you read last year, I use fashion to bring awareness to social issues too.
This was a wild card. I was sent this provacative dress that I think I will keep it for when I do actually go on that date (read the post) I like how I styled the fishnets with my old faithful sandals. That’s one of the things I like to do is re style my older pieces to give them new life.
Camouflage again! This was a fun look– a mix of hard and soft for a 90s grunge feel. I really like it cause I’m a 90s girl!
Lastly, my most recent post — I LOVE these OTK (over the knee) boots I patterned mixed my chevron hat with lumberjack sweater for a festive unconventional holiday look. Check out the post.
GOODBYE 2017, THANK YOU FOR BEING KIND
What a year! Each year, I theme it to give myself focus, and encouragement in my business. In 2017, it was all about having a SUPERSTAR 2017! I wanted to gain national exposure as well as local exposure for my fashion business! This year was a blessing, starting in Februray , People Stylewatch featured me in their national fashion magazine from my blog post in 2016 (see it here) Next, I had the pleasure of being featured in a local magazine as a blogger/influencer to watch read the article here. Another highlight, was meeting Vivica A. Fox and Taraji P. Henson at Women’s Empowerment. I had the opportunity to actually interview Vivica Fox watch it here.
Towards the end of the year in 2016 I developed a fashion doll to teach young girls entrepreneurship, style and confidence and this year I threw a launch party at one of the biggest shopping centers in North Carolina, Crabtree Valley Mall. This was a big event thousands of people passed through the mall that weekend and I was so happy to have my brand be center stage! The event was so successful, I was asked to host a fashion camp at the mall for about 50 girls! The 6 week program was for girls 8-18 and the end of the camp the girls put on a fashion show with Pulse FM, Jonas Blue and Jake Miller.
The excitement continued with styling my first celebrity client, Jacque Reid, American television and radio personality and journalist. She was the lead news anchor of The BET Nightly News from 2001-2005. Jacque is currently one of the co-hosts of the NBC New York affiliate show called “New York Live.” She has also guest-hosted The View several times, prior to joining NBC 4 New York. That event then sparked a meeting with executive producers to do a fashion segment for the show, although it never aired, due to scheduling I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to tape with a show #1 in the market!
I am truly happy with the direction of my business! Stay tuned to the next post to read what 2018 is going to be the year of…
