MISS APRIL FASHION GIRLPRENEUR
Miss April Fashion Girlpreneur is another nickname I have for myself. You know how Beyonce has “Sasha Fierce” , well I have “Miss April, Fashion Girlpreneur”, the fearless fashion entrepreneur! Of course my friends call me Cookie and my family has embarrassing nicknames they call me but Miss April is who I am when I am in my zone, when I am creating, styling, shopping and writing. Usually, the background music is a little Whitney Houston, Beyonce wrapped up with a little Blondie and sometimes, trap music, depending on the day :). My fashion girlpreneur spirit is like most creative girlpreneurs that follow my blog. The girls who have a creative business, that are the face of the brand, the janitor, assistant, accountant, product developer, IT person and boss rolled into one little tiny body. It’s a lot but it’s rewarding. To me it’s rewarding knowing that I can inspire women to be more creative, more stylish and yes– fearless. This year, I turn 40 and I feel so blessed to be able to say that and to be able to have found my purpose and to execute it everyday.
As a creative entrepreneur, the fun part is being able to call the shots on what you wear. Not long ago when I had a dress code to follow, I must admit, I wasn’t good at it. I hated someone telling me what to wear. I felt it stifled my creativity. But now, I am fashion-forward- slay all day! Today, I celebrate all the creative girlpreneurs I am sharing tips on how to up your style now that you’re the boss of your brand.
WEAR ALL THE BOLD ACCESSORIES YOU WANT!
The bigger, the bolder the better! Gold hoops, fancy fringe earrings and extra long pendants are not only allowed but required as a creative girlpreneur. Style is what we do, so the best way to show your creativity is with bold accessories. As a creative and especially in fashion, your clients wants to know that you are the real deal and staying on trend and knowing how to accessorize the perfect outfit is your business card and reference. Take this time to revel in the fact that you can be over accessorized and it’s allowed.

NOW IS THE TIME TO WEAR ALL THE FLY SHOES YOU COULDN’T WEAR BEFORE!
High heels might not be comfortable but if it makes the look amazing it might be worth a few moments of pain (carry a pair of posh flats). When there was a dress code at my old corporate job fancy heels were frowned upon. When I mean fancy I mean, metallic, rivets, lace up ankle booties… things like that. Now, I am so far on the other end of the spectrum that most, if not all of my shoes are fancy fashion shoes and I love it! Consider going to a meeting with a single sole metallic pump with your business suit… it’s what the classic black pump is to a corporate girl. Make a lasting and fashionable impression when you walk away with the deal of your dreams!

THE BOLDER THE PRINT, THE COOLER THE STYLE! REVAMP YOUR SUIT GAME!
My black on black leopard print 3 piece suit is my go-to fashion meeting suit. I love wearing bold printed suits, because for years it was all about plain navy blue, gray, brown and classic black… boo-rrr-ing! As a creative take advantage of your boss status and wear suits with fashionable patterns. THIS LOOK is how I close the deal, it says I am in fashion, stylish, bold and I’m the boss. Find a new uniform as a creative and when you do follow the rules, because you can make them!

BEAT YOUR FACE … IF YOU CAN !
Classic red lips are typically reserved for after hours, but in the creative field you can slash on a bold lip. While I do love the idea of calling the shots, I do think there is a clear line between daytime makeup and a nighttime beat. If you need to go from day to night for an after hours event, you can just darken your eye makeup right before you leave the office not before you leave for the office in the morning. Enjoy showing off a bright fresh face beat to command your day!
CLUTCH IT…WHY? … BECAUSE YOU CAN!
Lunchtime meeting? Clutch it. In your work tote carry a chic tote for a lunch meeting. There’s something about a clutch during the day that says fashion and it’s better than carrying your phone and debit card in your hand. A clutch is also a great for after work networking events. PLEASE DO NOT CARRY YOUR DAYTIME PURSE TO A NIGHTTIME EVENT!
