KENTUCKY DERBY STYLE
It’s almost that time! Kentucky Derby race day, May 5 2018. I have to admit, I know more about Kentucky Derby fashion than I do the actual race. Having never attended this iconic sporting event, I still know derby fashion very well. For years I have been to every kind of “derby party” not actually in Kentucky. Last year, I was invited by Cary Magazine to participate in a Derby shoot with local bloggers. Check it out here. I was paired with local boutique, Fabrik to share how I would style a derby look. To describe my “edgy-glam” style I took a strapless cocktail dress and layered it with a collared bow button up blouse. To add a little edge I paired the look with a lace up black heel and petite fascinator in hot pink with a peek-a-boo veil. My earrings were emerald green and diamond Swarovski crystal by Mark Morton. They popped nicely with the pink fascinator. It’s all about making a statement at any derby event! I love this look because it’s different. I like the layering of the dress not just for style but for a little more coverage. If you’re city is hosting an event be sure to attend in style. Check out a few dresses and fascinators I found for you, enjoy!
