HEAVY STUFF: 3 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR COAT
Finally, it’s time for coats! This week I highlighted my Maxi Dress Coat that I wore last year on purpose. If you’re like me and the cold doesn’t last for a long time, wearing your coat each season can be like wearing a new coat! The trick is, since this coat may be in the rotation for a while, how can we make it different for a couple of years? Below I gathered my favorite coats and added them to the boutique and shared 3 ways to style your coat and shop the picks!
STYLE TIPS FOR YOUR DRESS COAT
1. ADD A CAPE.
Sometimes the cape is hot and sometimes its not. I had this cape from a few years back and I reimagined wearing it draped as a scarf blanket over my coat and under my belt. This is a great layering technique for colder activities like a football game, or parade. Layering a cape is another way to create duality in your wardrobe by adding a blanket and scarf in one ! Shop below for capes.
2. ADD A BELT.
Rather than button your coat, belt it! A belt can be a nice change to a repeat coat. Try finding a belt in a contrasting color to your coat. Make sure that the belt doesn’t get lost in the coat or over power it. This style tip works best when your coat is going to be on for a while, you risk the chance of your belt being misplaced when you have to remove the belt frequently. Shop below for a few belts to make your coat pop!
3. FIND A COORDINATING HAT.
When did we stop wearing hats? If it’s a cold day I will definitely be wearing a hat! Never sacrifice style! Shop below for a few wool fedoras like this one pictured.
