FUN COSTUME IDEAS
*Que the JACKSON FIVE music* … “ABC…it’s easy as 1,2,3..” I am going to have fun dressing up in this 1960’s hippie costume. Who needs an excuse to dress up?… not me, I love a good costume party and anytime I can dress up and have a good time, I am all for it! I purchased this PEACE, LOVE AND A HAUTE HIPPIE costume from my boutique it comes with an attached vest, matching headband (not shown) and boot covers. It’s a great buy at $25! I opted to make a few changes. First, I purchased the HIPPIE KIT which comes with round rose colored sunglasses (not seen), leatherette headband (seen) and peace medallion. I added my own sunglasses, earrings and stockings. I added the fishnet stockings because the dress is WAY TOO SHORT, I knew it was short and I brought a large hoping the dress would be longer BUT.. I bent over while shooting this look and I think I gave some lucky people a show :(… I do recommed going up a size anyway because tight and short is not the ticket. I like adding the stockings in case of a chilly night and because it’s stylish. If I wanted to turn it down a notch I could have worn over the knee boots without the covers. However, if you need boots or don’t have the right pair, these covers are great. While I do love coming up with creative costumes this time of year, I am way to busy to make anything, so a prepackaged costume that I can tweak is what I need! COSTUME STYLE TIPS:
- Buy a costume that works for the event. Depending on where your going in your new costume, dress accordingly. The idea is to have a good time, and ill-fitting costumes and hurt feet are a fashion no-no. Check out my WHERE’S WALDO costume, it’s simple and perfect for a girl who is looking for an easy and comfortable costume. It’s perfect for a teacher all you have to do is add white tennis shoes, denim (shorts, jeans or overalls) and everything else comes in the set!
- Swap out and accessorize. My PEACE, LOVE & A HAUTE HIPPIE came with a headband to match the dress. I purchased a supplemental kit with glasses, medallion, and leatherette headband. Plus I added my own sunglasses, earrings and stockings to make it more “April”.
- Keep it simple and stylish. My 1950 “Pink Ladies” jacket, glasses and scarf is simple all you need to add black skinny jeans and ballet flats and you’re off!
- DREAM! Now is the time to play your dream character! Whether it’s simple 80’s t-shirt or a Game of Thrones inspired dress. Be your favorite character and go all out. Get your make up done professionally, and if I was to be my favorite character Khalesi, I would definitely get my hair done like her!
