CELEBRATE SPRING: HOW TO TRANSITION YOUR WINTER WARDROBE FOR SPRING
Happy FIRST DAY OF SPRING… well, almost! I can hardly contain myself because spring is my favorite season. I love the transition of cold to warm and dark and dreary to flowers in bloom. Not only do I love the seasonal transition, I like the wardrobe transition as well, but mother nature isn’t quite ready to shift gears when the first day of spring comes around. Typically, we’re still wearing our winter gear days and sometimes weeks after spring. There are ways to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring while staying warm and looking springtime-ready.
I found this adorable Karl Lagerfeld dress earlier this winter, January, to be exact, during the first snow storm here in Durham! January is a funny time because retailers are getting their racks ready for spring and we are still bundling up. I couldn’t resist this sale and I immediately wanted to wear it BUT it’s a sleeveless sheath dress. In my book “Are You Going To Wear That?!” 365 Days of Style Tips I share in tip #196 to wear a collard shirt under your dress. For one, it gives you another way to wear the dress and two, it’s a great source of warmth. The key to doing this as a transitional look for spring is to create a spring pallet. Look for pastels or florals to make the look bright and cheerful. My dress is a tweed pastel pink with black lace. I paired it with a lace button down blouse and winter accessories. The great thing about this dress is that I can wear it again in the spring perhaps for an outdoor graduation and wear it sleeveless with a sandal.
Take sometime to go through your closet and find your spring dresses and pair them with a pair of stockings, button down shirts or other layering pieces. You’ll look ready for spring and warm at the same time!
