I had the distinct pleasure of talking with Leanne backstage to find out her inspiration for the collection.  She said, “I want to see if people get it… the hint is it’s something prevalent in my life and something that inspires me constantly to no end” she states, “It’s a place where I go that inspires me and my mind keeps going and going… it’s an ode to this space”   When asked who would she love to see in her collection she said, “Kate Blanchet, Natalie Portman, the list goes on and on but it’s that ethereal goddess-like woman” I must say I agree one hundred percent. This collection was ethereal and goddess-like and definitely red-carpet worthy. However she states that the collection is for the everyday woman and although her beautiful silver silk chiffon gown with pleated and textured silk details in the finale (seen above) was not a wedding dress , I cannot image any woman not wanting that dress for her big day.

In true Leanne Marshall style there were 3D ruffles and twisted textile accents, which is something we saw on her winning season of Project Runway Season 5. However there were a few surprises from the designer like grommets, rope detail, metallics, cocktail dresses and stunning lace detail placed strategically.

Amongst the editors and style influencers were celebrities celebrating the designer, Ta’Rhonda Jones of Fox’s Empire, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, Miss New York Nicole Kulovany, Jenna and Maisy Stela of ABC’s Nashville, Teen Wolf start Adren Cho and Project Runway Alumnus Jay McCarroll .

About Leanne

Leanne Marshall was born in Yuba City, California with fashion in her blood. By age 12, her designs were being shown to the public in the form of costumes for her ballet and dance performances. The hair direction was a low flat ponytail and key hairstylist, Jon Reyman ran with it, creating a macramé technique that took 2 stylist to create the “Cobra Braid”.  The make up was a leaf tint ombre eye “The lids are coated with dusky matte shadows that diffuse into burgundy with a glowing touch of sheen.” says, Janell Geason, Aveda Global Artistic Director for Makeup.
